The Newest Walker
Please welcome Seis Walker! He has been with us about 6 weeks and he is a cutie! Adding a puppy in the mix is crazy and he is everything you think a puppy would be- a lot of work, but a lot of fun. He and Hanna are two peas in a pod despite the fact he was a gift for Davis' 6th birthday. He chose the name- Seis (spanish for six) since he got him on his sixth birthday and his birthday is May 6th. We love him to pieces...He was just over 6 weeks when he got him. The first few pictures are of him a few days after he was home.

Mother's Day Gift- Photo Shoot and I couldn't be happier!
We had some photos taken by Carrie Richardson Fry who goes to our church and we were more than happy with the results. Check out her website when you get some time! We had fun, and am so happy to get some shots of the pair together! They don't cooperate for me and Hanna still gave her a run for her money. Her cute smirks are quick! Davis is willing to do any pose, he is our ham. Thanks, Carrie for a fun event and great photos.

The Garden- all complete
The three weekend project is finally complete. Let me just tell you- hauling those blocks from the bed of the truck located in the front to the backyard is not my idea of fun. I felt that was my contribution given that Vince was building the wall. It started out crooked, so we let it sit for a weekend so we didn't get frustrated. We tackled it again this past weekend and I have to admit, it looks good. Vince is a weekend warrior and always impresses me. We planted roma and german johnson tomatoes (great for tomato sandwiches, but not pretty), zucchini, squash, ichiban eggplants, okra and cucumbers. We have pots of basil, green onions, lemon grass and thyme (I think?). The only thing missing is cilantro. I'll pick up some shortly...too much fresh salsa in our future not to have cilantro growing too. Fingers crossed we can get it to produce something this summer.

Hanna was released this morning at 7:30 AM
She is now at home resting, doing well, and back to normal self. Amazing little girl!
Waiting for Hospital Release
Hanna slept well through the night. She did not like being woke up for the medicine dosing but for that matter none of us did. However all is well and we are waiting to see Dr Gage to be relased shortly.

8PM at UNC CH Childrens Hospital
Hanna is settling in for the night. She hasn’t had much of an appetite but has really loved the chocolate ice cream. She is resting with only noticeable discomfort from the IV connection. She is not to keen on having this crazy contraption plugged into her arm. Mom and Dad are doing fine as well with a little exhaustion starting to creep in.
Today we had visits from Oma, Pop Pop, Big Brother Davis, Aunt Ann, Nick and Lauren. Davis was able to join in on the ice cream fun and Uncle Nick and Aunt Lauren surprised Hanna with some balloons. A special thanks also to Ann for bringing a stuffed kitty to ease the pain.
We are very blessed to have everyone’s well wishes and prayers. Thank you all.

Ice cream makes for a good recovery
Hanna's surgery went extremely well. Dr Gage was pleased with the outcome and finished thirty minutes sooner than expected. During recovery she was a little sluggish but ice cream eased the pain.

Surgery is Scheduled
We were notified today that Hanna's surgery is scheduled for 12:30 on Monday. We are to arrive at UNC at 10:45. Davis has a field trip that day, so it's a big day for everyone!
Here's the kicker, but no surprise to those who have been hospitalized before, Hanna can't eat anything prior to surgery- translation: That's half a day! This from a little girl, who has a very healthy appetite. It's not unusual for her to wake up, run into our room and asks for a snack first thing in the morning (assuming she wasn't already in our bed from waking up in the middle of the night and in that case she rolls over and asks...).
She will have to stay overnight but hopefully will be released the next morning. This will be just to be sure she doesn't have any airway swelling as a result of the surgery. Please pray for a speedy recovery! I dread the thought of her being in any pain...
While there is some dread looking into next week, I feel its prudent to remember that today is Good Friday and as far as I am concerned, the most important day in history. The day Jesus died on the cross so that we would be saved and our sins washed away.

Speech Therapy Approval
Last week Vince and I met with Wake County Preschool Services to find out if Hanna qualified for speech therapy services. Great news...she did. The best news apart from knowing she will begin therapy soon is that she scored high on her "tests". I can't recall the exact name of them at the moment. She was only 2 points below an average score which is completely impressive considering she has only been in the US for 8 months. The therapist indicated they were so proud of her and were not expecting her to score so high given her limited exposure to English. It's just another testament to our girl- she is amazing in every way.
We have our pre-op appointment at UNC to discuss the details of Hanna's surgery scheduled for Monday (April 25th). I am anxious to find out what will be involved. Please keep us in your prayers over the next few weeks.

Saturday Fun
This was a great weekend. We just relaxed and enjoyed being with each other. On Saturday my parents came up for a visit and dinner. We had a project for my dad, help us build a corn hole board. It turned out really good. It's fun to see Vince and my dad work on a project together.
Davis convinced my mom to play football while Hanna enjoyed the swing.

Today was just as relaxing. Ahhh...these are the weekends you live for.
(Please excuse the coloring of the photos...it was quite an overcast day and with the brown grass and fence the photos were reading "red")
